

Sales Account Executive - Assessment and Development
Challenge
As the organization expanded its sales operations, it recognized the need to enhance the effectiveness and consistency of its Account Executives. There was no structured framework defining success in the role, making it difficult to assess capability levels, identify development needs, and create a robust onboarding and learning ecosystem. The organization sought a systematic approach to build sales capability, improve performance, and strengthen future talent readiness.
Intervention
Whitespace partnered with the organization to design and implement a comprehensive Account Executive Development Program. The engagement began with the creation of a role-specific competency framework, followed by online assessments and one-on-one interviews conducted by external experts to evaluate each Account Executive's strengths and development areas.
Based on the assessment findings, individual development plans (IDPs) were created for every participant. A structured roadmap for training, coaching, and mentoring was developed, covering areas such as sales fundamentals, SPANCO methodology, negotiation skills, key account management, performance metrics, and insurance domain knowledge. In parallel, recommendations were provided to strengthen onboarding practices, introduce a buddy program, leverage digital learning platforms, and build a stronger learning culture. Progress was monitored through regular stakeholder reviews to ensure alignment and execution.
Impact
The intervention established a clear and measurable framework for Account Executive success, providing visibility into individual capability gaps and development priorities. Personalized development plans and targeted learning interventions enabled focused capability building, while recommendations around onboarding, mentoring, and learning infrastructure created a foundation for sustained performance improvement. The organization now has a scalable framework to accelerate Account Executive effectiveness, support talent development, and strengthen its future sales pipeline.
